Andrea's Introduction ... WOOO! :0)

Hello Classmates! My name is Andrea Goetz and I was born and raised in Oceanside, California. Having said this I have lived in the same house all my life, hopefully one day I'll find a way out. Though because of this stability I went to school in the same school district from 1st grade to high school. I was home school for Kindergarden, though they sent me off to public school the following year. I attended Hope elementary School, and for a brief period Buena Vista Elementary because of new classroom size reduction policies. Then I went on to Valley Middle School and Carlsbad High School. After High School I went straight here to CSUSM and have been here for about two years. I'm now a Junior and looking forward to getting this semester of classes under my belt.

I've had a fair amount of experience with technology throughout my life. I'm very familiar with both Mac and PC computers and understand how to use the majority of the programs on them. In High School I had some experience with photoshop in a photography class I took and I learned how to do some cool things on there images and photos. I'm also not the one who shies away from technology, so if it's new I do not know how to use it I take it upon myself to figure it out. I look forward to learning more about technology, computers, and how to integrate these things into the classroom this semester!

Upon reading the CSUSM College of Education Statement I'm proud to learn under such terms that seek to prepare us to be the very best we can be to those we will teach in the future. I also like that it states " 'life-long' learning", for as future educators we must constantly be willing and open to learn more to be successful in life. Unfortunately, when I applied to CSUSM I was not sure what my major was going to be so this is the first time (from what I can remember anyway) that I have read it. Though I'm very excited to continue my education as Liberal Studies as my major.

  1. Hi Andrea! I also like that the COE mission statement makes it apparent that as educators we will also become life long learners. In order to stay up to date with what our students will need to learn we will have to become students for life. I think it is sort of funny that I want to teach because I hated being a student in middle, and high school. Hopefully that isn't a sign that i should find a new career path ;) Anywho! It was interesting reading your intro, see you in class!

  2. Hello Andrea. Its good that you are willing to take it upon yourself to learn more about computers or technology. I really wish I was like that. I am really not computer savvy and very excited about our Educ 422 class. I am more of a visual learner. So it would be hard for me to try to figure it out on my own. I will probably frustrate myself. I actually would love to learn more about photoshop. It is cool to see what people can do and the how the picture can look so different.

  3. Andrea, I am also with you when it comes to life long learning. It's cool that you don't shy away from new challenges and staying up to date with new technology is a challenge. Stay active in the tech world, I'm hoping this Tech Tools class will accelerate me there.

  4. Hi Andrea! I'm just like you. Born and raised in the North County area and live/have lived in the same house my whole life, including now. I wish I would have been able to take a photography class in high school. I definitely would love to be able to do that on the computer but I am honestly almost hopeless with technology.

  5. Hi Andrea! I also lived in the same house my entire life..and actually included that in my post. We have a lot in common in that we didn't move around at all as children and went though the same school district for our entire grade school years. I loved what you said about the "life long learning" in the mission statement. It's so true that as future teachers it's important to remember we never stop learning.

  6. Hi Andrea, I too have been born and raised here in Southern California and lived in the same house all my life. I also am right there with you on technology and i am a Mac user as well. I also like the fact that you picked out that education is a on going progress and we learn from what we do.

  7. Hey Andrea
I dont mind, jazzy or jazmin works. I also like the "life-long learning" statement, I hope that i can continue to learn all throughout my life. I know that being a teacher will be the best way to do that because I will always learn from my co-workers, and especially from my students.
Oh and maybe you can help me out with learning all the cool things macs can do this semester lol :)
